this morning in cape spear

At 6:24am NST 3/10/2011

The morning of 3/10/2011 i woke up at approximately 5:00 am Newfoundland standard time, the bed and breakfast i stayed at was approximately 160 years old. It was a very large house and i thought it was very nice. I had a packed bag with me that morning, which included my camera and various camera equipment, my tripod, and my hat and scarf (which i bought in St.John's the day earlier) I traveled for 35 minutes in my rental car from the bed and breakfast to Cape Spear. I thought that i was too late to see the sunrise but i was on time, i thought that i was too late because i stopped for coffee. I arrived at Cape Spear, it was windy and cold. I prepared my camera and walked to the furthest easterly point in North America and set the tripod down. I turned on the camera and made sure that it was in focus and stood behind it. What you are seeing below is the sunrise at Cape Spear, Newfoundland, Canada at 6:24am NST 3/10/11. Here is a quote from Ralph T Pastore about some relevant information about Newfoundland:

"By the beginning of the 19th century, the Beothuks were reduced to a small refugee population living along the Exploits River system and attempting to subsist on the inadequate resources of the interior. Although a succession of Newfoundland governors had, since the middle of the 18th century, attempted to establish friendly contact with the Beothuks, it was probably too late to change a pattern which had existed for perhaps 250 years. Shanawdithit, the last known Beothuk, died in St. John's, Newfoundland in 1829.(1)"

I proceeded to Wikipedia, the entry for Cape Spear. I entered "At 6:24am NST 3/10/2011, Duane Linklater watched the sunrise. He traveled there to see the sunrise, to be the first one before anyone else." It was put under the section 'current'. The word sunrise would link to this page on my site, so that the viewer could watch the sunrise as well, or at least video documentation of the sunrise on that particular morning. It was not long after i made the entry to the Cape Spear Wikipedia that it was edited and deleted, i proceeded to 'undo' the deletion. Below are the messages i received from different editors at wikipedia about the entry to wikipedia and their reasons for the deletions.

I continued this gesture for five years.

I decided that the project ended with John G Hampton disrupting my consistent edits with his own entry into the page.

I also decided that this project was no longer my project at all and that Cape Spear is a physical and conceptual Indigenous space which should move along to various people.

John G Hamton is the current occupant of Cape Spear Newfoundland.

"Cape Spear is a popular place and thousands of people have watched the sunrise there (myself included). Please explain why it is notable that Duane Linklater saw the sunrise there. You can do this either in the edit itself or in the comment. If you can't give a reason, please don't add it back into the article. Your addition to the article has been removed four times so far.

While anyone can edit Wikipedia, that also means anyone can edit YOUR edits. Most editors are easy to get along with and will help new contributors, but its a good idea to pay attention to what more experienced editors have to say. If you want to become a part Wikipedia, the best thing to do is create an account and you will be welcomed into the community. Silverchemist (talk) 04:58, 15 May 2011 (UTC)"

This is your only warning; if you insert a spam link to Wikipedia again, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted, preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines. Your edit was not saved because it contains a new external link to a site registered on Wikipedia's blacklist. To save your changes now, you must go back and remove the blocked link (shown below), and then save.Note that if you used a redirection link or URL shortener, you may still be able to save your changes by using the direct, non-shortened link - you generally obtain the non-shortened link by following the link, and copying the contents of the address bar of your web-browser after the page has loaded. If you feel the link is needed, you can:
Request that the entire website be allowed, that is, removed from the local or global spam blacklists (check both lists to see which one is affecting you).
Request that just the specific page be allowed, without unblocking the whole website, by asking on the spam whitelist talk page.
Blacklisting indicates past problems with the link, so any requests should clearly demonstrate how inclusion would benefit Wikipedia. March 12, 2012.

Welcome, and thank you for your attempt to lighten up Wikipedia. However, this is an encyclopedia and the articles are intended to be serious, so please don't make joke edits, as you did to Cape Spear. Readers looking for accurate information will not find them amusing. If you'd like to experiment with editing, try the sandbox, where you can write practically anything you want.
